Turkey Rearing Houses
Raising turkeys from day-old chicks up to 6 weeks of age, or in some cases to 4 weeks of age, in fact requires the same conditions that are used to raise broilers. Thus the turkey rearing houses are similar to the broiler houses, and in most of them the CTV system is fully installed.
Because turkey chicks require particularly strong lighting during their first days, a unique lighting system must be used for raising this type of birds, and the higher temperature required during the initial stages necessitates additional heaters.
Growers who have adopted the "intermediate age" system remove the turkey chicks to intermediate age houses at 4 weeks of age. These are similar to turkey broiler houses, except that the roof and curtains are insulated. In most cases, we provide such houses with concrete floors and perimeters.
